A weird little novelty bootleg 7" release of non-music from Welsh group The Pooh Sticks. Released in 1989 on Anonymous. No music, just live sounds of the audience and a distant PA. Recorded at U.L.U. 3/3/89.

The Hepburns - Goalmouth Incident 12"
(Cherry Red [12 CHERRY 98], 1987) [WALES]

An awesome 12" single from Welsh indie pop group
The Hepburns. Their first release. I'm always ignorant and assume a band from the UK is probably English -- always pleasantly surprised and happy to find a Welsh group or Scottish group.

The Pooh Sticks - On Tape 7"
(Fierce Recordings [FRIGHT 011], 1988) [WALES]

The first single-song single release from The Pooh Sticks, and quite possibly their best song! On Tape, from 1988 on Fierce Recordings. (Just look at those bowl cuts!!)

The Pooh Sticks - Indie Pop Ain't Noise Pollution 7"

The Pooh Sticks - Dying For It 7"
(Fierce Recordings [FRIGHT 034], 1989) [WALES]

Probably more than any other band that I know of, The Pooh Sticks, released several songs of theirs as single-song 7" singles (which is odd, in my opinion, just to press several records with one song...) but I'm gonna post a few of these songs. Here is a single version of their cover of a Vaselines' song.

The Darling Buds - Shame On You 12"
(Native Records [12 bud 1], 1988) [WALES]

THE POOH STICKS - HARD ON LOVE 7" FLEXI (WOOSH [WOOSH 007], 1989) [WALES]

The Pooh Sticks - Hard On Love 7" Flexi
(Woosh [WOOSH 007], 1989) [WALES]

My brother absolutely hates this band because of their name, The Pooh Sticks, and he refuses to listen to them solely because of it. How wrong he is and it's totally his loss! Once you get pass the obnoxiousness of their name (which apparently can't be too offensive as it is a children's game derived from Winnie The Pooh) the music is diverse, cheeky, and awesome. This single-song transparent yellow flexi disc originally came with a zine titled "The Pooh Sticks Rock Life Fuck", on Woosh in 1989.

HELEN LOVE - MERRY CHRISTMAS (I DON'T WANNA FIGHT) 7" (DAMAGED GOODS [DAMGOOD206], 2001) [WALES]

Helen Love - Merry Christmas (I Don't Wanna Fight) 7"
(Damaged Goods [DAMGOOD206], 2001) [WALES]

Last Christmas theme post for the night! Here's a short and sweet song from Helen Love, a cover of the Ramones' classic "Merry Christmas (I Don't Wanna Fight)" clocking in at a little over two minutes long on this single-sided 7" from London's Damaged Goods. Helen Love is one of the few Welsh bands that I know of (and I wish I knew of more!) being from Swansea. Also, the team that this American has temporarily adopted to support when I follow the EPL, for no other reason than I wanna see the Welsh side win. What's not to love about Helen Love, too.
