The first single from English group The Primitives, and the first release, 1986, on Lazy Records (which also briefly had MBV on its' roster).

THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN - NEVER UNDERSTAND 12" (BLANCO Y NEGRO [NEG 8T], 1985) [SCOT]

The Jesus & Mary Chain - Never Understand 12"
(Blanco Y Negro – [NEG 8T], 1985) [SCOT]

The second single release from The Jesus & Mary Chain, in support of their first album Psychocandy, with two non-album B-Side tracks. More noise and distortion.

THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN - UPSIDE DOWN 7" (CREATION RECORDS [CREATION 012], 1984) [SCOT]

The Jesus & Mary Chain - Upside Down 7"
(Creation Records – [CREATION 012], 1984) [SCOT]

The first release by Scotland's The Jesus & Mary Chain and also an early release on nascent record label Creation from 1984. The band really delivers on the the wall-of-sound with grating and squealing feedback.

RIDE - PLAY 12" (CREATION RECORDS [CRE075T], 1990) [ENG]

Ride - Play 12"
(Creation Records – [CRE075T], 1990) [ENG]

The second 12" single release by Ride, who had four 12" singles come out within about a year's time on Creation Records from 1990-1991.

MY BLOODY VALENTINE - SUNNY SUNDAE SMILE 12" (LAZY RECORDS [LAZY 04T], 1987) [IRE]

My Bloody Valentine - Sunny Sundae Smile 12"
(Lazy Records – [LAZY 04T], 1987) [IRE]

Another 12" single from My Bloody Valentine, their third release this time on Lazy Records. Again, still before the introduction of Bilinda Butcher to the group, but still getting closer to their more familiar sound. Love these lyrics -- if you really listen closely...

MY BLOODY VALENTINE - THE NEW RECORD BY... 12" (KALEIDOSCOPE SOUND [KS 101], 1986) [IRE]

My Bloody Valentine - The New Record By.. 12"
(Kaleidoscope Sound – [KS 101], 1986) [IRE]

The second 12" single release from My. Bloody Valentine. Released on Kaleidoscope Sound in 1986, with Dave Conway doing some vocals and prior to Bilinda joining the group. You can hear the beginnings of them coming into their 'sonic sound.' Some of my favorite MBV stuff is this 80s indiepop/twee stuff before the full on shoegaze records.
