DEE WALKER - DIAL 'L' FOR LOVE LP (ARTS NETWORK [DEE 1], 1985) [UK]

Dee Walker - Dial 'L' For Love LP
(Arts Network [DEE 1], 1985) [UK]

Mid-80s mod-revivalist Dee Walker had some potential to be pretty huge. Styled after the sixties "girl" singers. From what I read she retired from the music business shortly after releasing this album which some (all?) of the songs were penned by Paul Bevoir.

P.S. I LOVE YOU - WHERE ON EARTH IS KEVIN SHIELDS? 7" (ROCKET GIRL [RGIRL9], 1999) [US]

P.S. I Love You - Where On Earth Is Kevin Shields? 7"
(Rocket Girl [RGIRL9], 1999) [US]

This is all I've heard from this US band P.S. I Love You, but I love it, and would like to hear more. This 7" came out in 1999 on Rocket Girl (UK) and features two songs, one an ode to MBV star Kevin Shields.

DENIM - SUMMER SMASH CDEP (EMIDISC [CDDISC 009], 1997) [UK]

Denim - Summer Smash CDEP
(EMIDISC [CDDISC 009], 1997) [UK]

I have to admit it took a while for Denim to grow on me, I had really loved Lawrence Hayward's previous band Felt a whole lot. But after a while everything clicked and I started to love everything. This is the band's final 4-song CDEP that was self-banned from release because it's main title "Summer Smash" at the time of release that summer of '97 seemed in poor taste with Princess Diana's car crash death. Here it is.

ESMERELDA'S KITE & THE WILLIAMS - SPLIT 7" FLEXI (SUNSHINE [SUNSHINE11], 1988) [UK]

Esmerelda's Kite & The Williams - Split 7" Flexi
(Sunshine [SUNSHINE 11], 1988) [UK]

Posting another single-sided split 7" flexi disc this time from what I think were two UK based bands, Esmerelda's Kite & The Williams, who's only other release is a demo, I believe. Esmerelda's Kite has another split appearance with The Groove Farm a year later.

THE AMMONITES & THE PHILIPS - SPLIT 7" FLEXI (RARE BREED RECORDS [SAMMY002], BOSHI [RODDY007]) [UK/JP]

The Ammonites & The Philips - Split 7" Flexi
(Rare Breed Records [Sammy 002], Boshi [Sammy 007], Date: ????) [UK/JP]

A single-sided split 7" flexi between Leicester, UK's The Ammonites and Japan's The Philips for a song each on this split-label split-country release. Indie Pop / Twee that came with a fanzine, of course. The internet seems uncertain as to the year of its release, but i'd bet sometime before '91.

JAMES DEAN DRIVING EXPERIENCE - WORLD WEARY & WISE 7" FLEXI (SELF RELEASED [JDDE1], 1987) [UK]

James Dean Driving Experience - World Weary & Wise
7" Flexi
(Self Released [JDDE 1], 1987) [UK]

The first release from England's James Dean Driving Experience was this single-sided flexi disc from 1987 with two songs that they later re-recorded for other releases. These versions are a little more dour and slower. Cover photo is Audrey Hepburn.

VA - The Birth of The True CD

02 - Pure - Can't Buy Me Love
03 - Secret Shine - Take Me Slowly
04 - B-Flower - グライダーと長靴

09 - Razorblade Smile - It Kills Me
10 - White Come Come - Rise
11 - Pure - Whirlpool

BOYRACER & HULA HOOP - LOUISVILLE - LEEDS - TKO! SPLIT LP (A TURNTABLE FRIENDS [TURN 18], 1993)

Boyracer & Hula Hoop
Louisville - Leeds - TKO! Split LP
(A Turntable Friend [TURN 18], 1993)

A split between two bands across the pond from each other; Hula Hoop from Louisville, US and Boyracer from Leeds, UK.  Some of my favorite Boyracer material, and also some of the longest songs of theirs, I can recall, which I bigly enjoy. Hula Hoop holds their own with their side.

LOOP - SPINNING 12" (HEAD [HEAD7], 1987) [UK]

Loop - Spinning 12"
(Head [HEAD7], 1987) [UK]

The second 12" single for British Loop on Head Records from 1987. Repetitive and Psychedelic.

BIG STAR & TEENAGE FANCLUB - MINE EXCLUSIVELY / PATTI GIRL 7" (NEW MUSICAL EXPRESS [NME FAN 1], 1993) [UK]

Big Star & Teenage Fanclub
Mine Exclusively / Patty Girl 7"
(New Musical Express [NME FAN 1], 1993) [UK]

Split 7" between two giant bands covering two 60s songs.

BECK - STEVE THREW UP 7" (BONG LOAD RECORDS [BL11], 1994) [US]

Beck - Steve Threw Up 7"
(Bong Load Records [BL11], 1994) [US]

An early lo-fi Beck 7" on Bong Load Records from 1994.  Features 3 songs (well, if you want to count the outro). The guy depicted on the front sleeve is German schlager singer Heino. Though, I think it kind of looks like my friend Sean.

FLYING SAUCER ATTACK - SOARING HIGH 7" (FSA RECORDS [FSA6], 1993) [UK]

Flying Saucer Attack - Soaring High 7"
(FSA Records [FSA6], 1993) [UK]

Flying Saucer Attack were from Bristol, England in the early 90s. This 7" is from 1993 on their own label, I believe. Quiet, ethereal, lo-fi, and spacey. Great atmosphere.

VA - HAPPY EXTREME 7" FLEXI DISC (HAPPY EXTREME! [SFC 001], 1988) [JP]

VA - Happy Extreme 7" Flexi Disc
(Happy Extreme! [SFC 001], 1988) [JP]

Japanese indie pop compilation on a flexi disc from 1988 featuring some pretty fantastic bands. This flexi originally was given away free with the Japanese Fanzine "Eikoku Ongaku" vol. 11. When I got this, I think off slsk? There were some extra Lollipop Sonic tracks in the folder that are not from this comp., actually not sure where they originate from -- just be glad they're there!

Tracklisting:

01 - Lollipop Sonic - Exotic Lollipop
02 - Lollipop Sonic - Coffee Milk Crazy
03 - Penny Arcade - Green Telescope
04 - The Bachelors - River and Road
05 - The Rain - Tom Paine
++ (Plus Bonus Lollipop Sonic Tracks)

LOLLIPOP SONIC - FAVORITE SHIRTS CASSETTE TAPE (SELF RELEASED, 1988) [JP]

Lollipop Sonic - Favorite Shirts Cassette Tape
(Self Released, 1988)

"File Under '60's Pop." I love this band, Lollipop Sonic, though I know so little about them. From what I gather they are Pre-Flipper's Guitar from Tokyo, Japan and quite influential in that area. They play Felt-influenced British indie guitar pop and have the cutest Japanese inflection and pronunciation when singing in English. Hopefully you enjoy these songs as much as I have.

TELEVISION PERSONALITIES - WHERE'S JOWE HEAD NOW? 7" (PERFECT POP RECORDS [POP25], 1996)

Television Personalities - Where's Jowe Head Now? 7"
(Perfect Pop Records [POP25], 1996) [UK]

This is a live recording in Oslo, Norway from 1990 featuring Jowe Head singing on the A-side and Dan Treacy on the B-side, I believe, both in Television Personalities at this time. Wonderful banter and rock n' roll medley going in and out of songs on the A-side.

SPARE SNARE & THE SUMMER HITS - STOLEN ECSTASY 45 CHAPTER ONE - SPLIT 7" (100 GUITAR MANIA RECORDS [100GM-14], 1995)
