THE JADES - LEAVE HER FOR ME / SO BLUE 7" (TIME RECORDS [1002], 1958) [USA]

The Jades - Leave Her For Me / So Blue 7"
(Time Records – [1002], 1958) [USA]

Lou [Lewis] Reed Pre-Velvet Underground worked as a studio/session musician with several acts one of them being The Jades, who released this 7" doo-wop single in 1958. The thing that I like about it most, it seems to me, to be a subversive gay anthem. He sings, "Leave her for me...", but in 1958 who would likely be leaving a her? In my mind, it would be a man leaving his wife for the singer [another man]. Well, that's what has always stuck out to me with this song. Love it!
