(Mouth & Vinnie Records – [T.G.B. 500], 1989) [AUS]
I think the first single released from Australian indie group The Glory Box, released in 1989, with two different versions with two covers. Also, later re-released in 1991 with a different B-Side track.
The second single release from Irish jangle pop group Hey Paulette released in 1990 on the oddly named irish indie label Mickey Rourkes Fridge. There're a million bands I love from Scotland and England, and even Wales, but I find it a little more difficult to find bands from Ireland -- this one is excellent though!
Maybe the first? single release from New Hampshire, USA indie group Toast. Released in 1993 on Mag Wheel Records [a Boston label that relocated to Ontario, Canada at some point]. They do sound a little like GBV to me..
Another early GBV single release, this time a split 7" release between Guided By Voices with Jenny Mae Leffel, released in 1992 or 1993 on Anyway Records.
I am no Guided By Voices expert, but from what I can ascertain from Discogs, this is their first release? A 12" single released in 1986, and only re-issued once in 2005. Pure lo-fi perfection!
A 7" compilation single released on Simple Machines as part of a 'machine' series where each release was titled after a simple machine. Released in 1993, it was the sixth and final installment of the series. Featuring:
Quite possibly the most popular single song from Yo La Tengo? or maybe it is just for me -- but I do love 'Sugarcube' and especially the funny music video with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, haha. Released in 1997 on Matador.
I know they're quite a popular band, Arctic Monkeys, but I have honestly never listened to them before hearing this 7" ep released in 2012 on Domino. I mainly sought it out because the B-Side features Richard Hawley, also a Sheffield native.
A 7" single release from D.C.'s The Slickee Boys released in 1979 on Limp Records. A little blend of New Wave / Power Pop / Garage and everything else.
A indie rock split 7" between NC's Superchunk and VA's Tsunami. Released in the mid90s on Honey Bear Records. Tsunami's song is a cover of The Modern Lovers - 'She Cracked'.
A weird little novelty bootleg 7" release of non-music from Welsh group The Pooh Sticks. Released in 1989 on Anonymous. No music, just live sounds of the audience and a distant PA. Recorded at U.L.U. 3/3/89.
An odd little 7" single from Swedish artist Annika Blennerhed featuring two jazzy cover songs; one of The Clash and the B-Side of The Doors. Released in 1986.
I truthfully could not tell you one fact about this group, Pleasure In Pink, other than what I find on Discogs. One 7" single release (this) on Lost Moment Records, and one self-released cassette tape release. I am going to assume they are from somewhere in England.
