A lo-fi indie pop release from Pop Will Eat Itself, early on, before they had changed their sound drastically. Five ferocious pop songs here! Was later released as a 12" that combined their other 7" single also from 1986.
A flexi-disc released by English indie pop label Windmill Records in 1991. Featuring, unsurprisingly, three bands and three songs. The release came with a folding paper pyramid - just 'cause! A follow up to the first in the series: Four Bands, Four Songs that was released a year earlier. I'll have to post that one soon.
A CDEP from Japanese indie pop group Bridge featuring a cover of the popular France Gall ye-ye song! The third track states (Stereolab Mix), but from all that I have read it's just the title -- no involvement from the group Stereolab in the making of the mix.
Two odd ball cover songs from California group !!! released in 2005. The A-Side being a cover from The Magnetic Fields and the B-Side is a cover of a Nate Dogg song.
A split 7" record between American Cali group The Pine along with Italian screamo/emo outfit La Quiete. I remember thinking this has the prettier songs of the two bands who usually have a pretty hard edge to them. The first and only release from this record label.
The first single release from Club 8, Sweden's indie pop darlings. This first release was on Spanish indie label Siesta Records in 1995. Three tracks not contained on any of their albums.
The second single release from Swedens indie pop group, Club 8, released on Swedish label Labrador in 1998. Contains two tracks and a remix of the title track. Later there was a 6-track CDEP released in America containing more remixes.
The third album released by England's Biff Bang Pow!, released summer of 1987, and it does have a nice summer feel to it. Very bright and poppy. Some of my favorite tracks of theirs on this album; especially 'There You Go Again" !!
A one off 7" release from Teenage Werewolf [featuring Richard Hawley], a little rockabilly sounding. Really dig the faster pace of the B-Side! The only proper release of the group, I believe, is this 7" single on CoshBoy.
The legendary first? single release from The Strokes. Released in 2001 in various markets. This CDEP is from Australia, featuring two live tracks in addition to the studio recordings. Which is similar to how the single was released in Japan, but not in the USA.
A 7" power pop release from Warm Soda (originally from Oakland, California then relocated to Austin, Texas) released in 2013 on Italian record label Goodbye Boozy Records.
I won't say I know much about this German musician/artist Deuter, other than this is a great and new-agey, atmospheric LP. In the same vein as those German krautrock groups; Can or Kraftwerk. I saw this one recommended on a message board and for whatever reason it intrigued me -- and the vinyl is pretty widely available for about $10 USD. Check it out!
The Kossabone Red - Chapter Two. Traveling Incognito… 7"
(Insurance Scam Records – [0011992], 1996) [USA]
This little emo 7" holds a dear place in my heart. It wasn't the first record I bought, but very early on, I remember picking it up from the dredges of the dollar bin in Florida and playing both sides so much. A 7" single, one of two singles ever released by Georgia's The Kossabone Red, who only had an LP otherwise. Catchy little nostalgic emotional songs.
A Japanese released 7" compilation featuring four Japanese indie pop groups. Not released on any label, so self released? Featuring Tirolean Tape, Honey Skoolmates, International Airport, Disco Girl from 1998. A resolution of mine is to be a little more active with more posts weekly! Keep an eye out and happy new year!
