SPIRAL LIFE - FREAKS OF GO GO SPECTATORS CD (POLYSTAR [PSJR-9103], 1995) [JP]

Spiral Life - Freaks of Go Go Spectators LP
(Polystar – [PSJR-9103], 1995) [JP]

A Japanese release from 1995 by Japanese shoegaze / indie group Spiral Life. I love the 13-minute version that closes out the album of their song 'Garden' that's much slower and longer than the original album version.

NAVIO FORGE - AS WE QUIETLY BURN A HOLE INTO... LP (SHADOW CATCHER [SHADOW 1], 1994) [USA]

Navio Forge - As We Quietly Burn A Hole Into... LP
(Shadow Catcher – [SHADOW 1], 1994) [USA]

Navio Forge were a short-lived post-hardcore band from California. Existing only in 1993, the group performed only two shows before breaking up. Their sole recording, As We Quietly Burn A Hole Into..., was released shortly after their disbandment in February 1994 om Shadow Catcher. Featuring Sarah Kirsch who played in a ton of bands around this area and time.  This release also goes down as one of the butt-ugliest album cover -- but it still somehow works. The final song still gives me chills!

THE CARAWAY - ANOTHER CHRISTMAS WILL COME AROUND THIS YEAR 7" (BLUE-VERY LABEL [BLVD-026], 2021) [JP]

The Caraway - Another Christmas Will Come Around This Year 7"
(blue-very label – [BLVD-026], 2021) [JP]

Since we're coming up on the Christmas holiday, I decided I may share a few small X-mas type releases. The first is this 7" release from Japan's The Caraway. The A-Side is two Christmas cover songs, but the B-Side is not. And the flip-side also has one of my favorite songs being covered !! -- "Goodbye Flip-Flap Guitar" originally by Johnny Dee.

Astrobrite - 8 Candy CDEP
(Sonic Syrup – [ss-03], 2001) [USA]

A 2001 CDEP release from Astrobrite, released by small US indie label Sonic Syrup. Awesome discordant wall of noise, some of the best shoegaze! In the vein of MBV or Lovesliescrushing [Scott Cortez's other shoegazey group].

THE MAN I FELL IN LOVE WITH - DIS YOURSELF 12" (DONUT FRIENDS [#057], 1998) [USA]

The Man I Fell In Love With - Dis Yourself 12"
(Donut Friends [#057], 1998) [USA]

Another favorite release from one of my favorite all-time bands that never gets any mention or props, The Man I Fell in Love With. Again, released on Donut Friends records of Kent, OH, where both the band and label originate. Classic emo-goes-shoegaze from 1998. Released originally as a CDEP and this 12" came later in the year 2000. The final proper release of the group before disbanding. I always have liken it more akin to a mini-album than EP, but Discogs is going with EP.

FÜXA & WINDY + CARL - SPLIT 7" (MIND EXPANSION [MIND EXPANSION 003], BLUE FLEA [BLUE FLEA 04], 1995) [USA]

Füxa & Windy + Carl - Split 7"

A split 7" release between two lo-fi American indie groups Füxa and Windy + Carl released in 1995 between two labels. Two great dreamy tracks from both groups.

CRANES - JEWEL CDEP (DEDICATED, RCA RECORDS LABEL, 1993) [ENG]

Cranes - Jewel CDEP
(Dedicated – [DED 07863 62646-2], RCA Records Label – [07863 62646-2], 1993) [ENG]

A CDEP release from English shoegaze/dream pop group Cranes. Released in 1993. I dig the ethereal and wispy vocals, and the extended remixes are nice to hear after wearing out the album on repeat. It's refreshing hearing alternative versions of songs that I adore, I'm sure I've mentioned before.

MINA - SE TELEFONANDO... / NO 7" (RIFI [RFN NP 16152], 1966) [ITA]

Mina - Se telefonando... / No 7"
(Rifi – [RFN NP 16152], 1966) [ITA]

A popular 7" single from Italian artist Mina at the height of her career in 1966. Two high energy tracks. "Se telefonando..." is arranged by Ennio Morricone.
