(Firestation Tower Records – [FST 001], 1998) [GER]
The 1998 10" vinyl release of their self-titled cassette tape from a year earlier in 1997, is the first release of Germany's Bazooka Cain, and also the first release on Firestation Tower Records. There are songs sung in German, French, Spanish, and English!
The first release by English indie duo Apple Boutique, released on Creation Records in 1988. Both members were at one point in Felt and founding members of The Servants.
The first single released by London, England post-punk group The Slits. On Island Records in 1979. Love the Motown cover of I Heard it Through The Grapevine on the B-Side.
The final proper release by Basingstoke, England indie pop group The Rain, before changing their named to Clark Springs. Released in 1990 on Orangewood, the same label that released their LP that same year. None of these four songs appear on that album.
The first release by Basingstoke, England indie pop group The Rain, who later changed their named to Clark Springs. Released in 1985 on Jivealive, before the group joined Medium Cool.
An early 7" single release from Sacramento, California indie group Tiger Trap. Released on K Records in 1993 as part of their International Pop Underground series, this is Vol. XXXVI.
A split Flexi-Disc between two English indie pop groups: The Sea Urchins & The Groove Farm, distributed with fanzine Kvatch 6 by Clare Wadd that later went on to form Sarah Records.
A three-song 7" single from California lo-fi indie pop group Holiday Flyer, recorded in 1993 and released in 1994 on Fingerpaint Records. Their first proper release.
(Revolver Magazine – [43], The Bob Magazine – [43], 1992) [SCOT/USA]
A split Flexi-Disc release between two indie rock groups. Scotland's Teenage Fanclub with a live track and Los Angeles, USA group Viva Saturn with a track.
A Japanese released Flexi-Disc compilation that accompanied a fan-zine, from 1996 and featuring three Japanese bands and one English group [the opening track]. It's a must!!
A rather catchy punk single from Belgium's Hubble Bubble that's a big fuck you to Nazis. The song almost sounds too poppy for it's cutthroat lyrics, but it's such a killer track. Lyrics on the back cover.
A two-song 7" single from 1991 by English artist Amelia Fletcher, who is in a whole bunch of indie groups including Heavenly. This is a fantastic dancey synth-pop indie single!
The demo tape release from State College, Pennsylvania emo group Ethel Meserve from 1995. Some of my favorite songs of theirs that seem to mostly have been used later on for various compilation albums.
The only release by Michigan emo/indie group The Sky By Sorella released on *inchworm. in 1996. A lo-fi affair. Featuring members of Ordination of Aaron and Closer.
High Sunn is a solo project (basically) of Justin Cheromiah who is from the Bay area. He is a young guy who had been releasing solo cassettes and demos since he was in the 8th grade, until calling it quits under the moniker High Sunn. This is the release I have probably listened to the most often.
A split cassette tape release from Spanish indie pop group Jessica & The Fletchers along with American pop duo based in NYC, The Prams. Released in 2014 on Tigre Discs, got one unique song here from The Prams not found elsewhere.
Analog 2nd Camera - A Perfect Day For Bananafish E.P. TAPE
(No Label, [A2CM-1004], 1996) [JP]
This band, Analog 2nd Camera, came out of nowhere for me. I saw that they had a song on a Japanese compilation I had heard and I was searching anything more of them to hear and came across this cassette tape someone had shared. Lucky for me, and lucky for you too! This is fantastic Japanese indie pop that is just so endearing the more and more I listen to these four songs. A perfect EP. I love the Lupin intro, as well. I only hope to find more from the band.
Another post-Razorcuts group of Gregory Webster is Saturn V with this 7" single release from 1992 on Australian indiepop label Summershine. Also with a member of Talulah Gosh.
