I know very surface level stuff about the grindcore genre, but this is my absolute favorite, top number one, grindcore album that I listen to on repeat. Scum by Napalm Death released in 1987.
Another split 7" , this time between two Gainesville, Florida bands: Waltz & Moonraker. Released also on Florida label, Obscurist Press [run by Moonraker member Travis Fristoe (RIP)], from 1997.
(Shakefork Records – [Shakefork No. 10], 1995) [USA]
Another classic split 7" by two Illinois groups, Friction and Cap'n Jazz, with one song from each group. Released in 1995 on Illinois label Shakefork. Nothing Dies With Blue Skies...
A CDEP from English shoegaze group Catherine Wheel with four tracks released in 1991 on Fontana. One of their earliest releases. Of course I love 'Black Metallic' but I really love the B-Side 'Let Me Down Again'. Fave song of theirs!
A Japan-only tour CDEP release from Geoff Farina in 2006. Singer / Songwriter stuff. American singer best known as the front man of Karate and The Secret Stars.
Another classic emo split record, this time a 10" split release between Christie Front Drive [Denver, CO] and Boys Life [Kansas City, MO]. Released on Crank! Records in 1996. So much of the 90s emo scene resulted in awesome collaboration and split records. I think it was some of the last songs released by CFD.
(Matinée Recordings [MATLP001], Where It's At Is Where You Are [MATLP001], 1999) [ENG]
A 10" release from indie pop group Sportique released in 1999. A split release between a US and an UK label. Featuring members of Razorcuts, Heavenly, the Television Personalities.
Lou [Lewis] Reed Pre-Velvet Underground worked as a studio/session musician with several acts one of them being The Jades, who released this 7" doo-wop single in 1958. The thing that I like about it most, it seems to me, to be a subversive gay anthem. He sings, "Leave her for me...", but in 1958 who would likely be leaving a her? In my mind, it would be a man leaving his wife for the singer [another man]. Well, that's what has always stuck out to me with this song. Love it!
A pretty obscure Japanese indie/twee pop 7" that I know very little about by Irish Setter. I do not even know the year it was released, but my guess would be sometime in the 1990s.
A two-song cassette tape release from Japanese indie pop group Ivory Past [I believe solo project of Hitoshi Oka, though I am not 100%]. Ivory Past only seems to release cassette tapes. Released in 2016.
A 7" single release from San Francisco, California lo-fi indie pop group Girls. Released in 2010. The B-Side is a cute cover of 'End of the World' made famous by Skeeter Davis.
The first release English indie pop group Clark Springs under this name. [A.K.A. The Rain, who were forced to rename following a clash with another band]. Released in 1992 on Australian pop label Summershine. They went on to release one more single two years later.
The first in a series of ten split 7" records over the course of three years [from 1996 to 1999] called Post Marked Stamps from Tree Records. This first in the series features Ida and The Deadwood Divine.
