A split Flexi-Disc from two English indie pop / twee groups, released on Sunday Records in 1991, as part of their Flexi-Disc series [Also, had released a flexi of slowdive]. Fat Tulips & Confetti each do a cover song: Fat Tulips covering Spandau Ballet, and Confetti covering Au Pairs.
Tonina Torrielli - I successi di Tonina Torrielli 7"
(Cetra – [EP. 0553/2], 1956) [ITA]
An old-timey release from the 1950s. Tonina Torrielli's song "Amami se vuoi" was the Italian entry for the Eurovision song contest in 1956. This EP has four of her early tracks of that year. Amami se vuoi... Tienimi se puoi...
A split 7" one-sided flexi-disc that came with the 6th issue of French fanzine "Tea Time". Featuring London's Stereolab and France's Guitare Boy. Released in 1992.
(Sympathy For The Record Industry – [SFTRI 514], 1997) [USA]
Garage rock duo from Ohio, Bassholes, partnering up with 90s yé-yé girl April March to release this 7" in 1997 on Sympathy For The Record Industry. The A-Side is a cover of E.S.G.'s "Moody".
An international indie pop compilation that pays tribute to Daniel Johnston released by German label Little Teddy Recordings in 1993. Featuring Television Personalities [England], The Bartlebees [Germany], Wimp Factor 14 [USA], and Hanshalf Tri [Australia]. This is Volume 1 of what I believe there were 3 volumes of, perhaps those will show up on the blog some day soon, too.
California garage rock revival group, The Crawdaddys, formed in the late 70s and released their first single in 1980 with two covers from the Lou Reed catalog. The A-Side is originally by The Velvet Underground and the B-Side is from The All Night Workers, an early studio group featuring Reed.
Another full length album that I listen to heavily. The final release of this English indie pop group, Eggplant, before breaking up came out on Spanish label Elefant Records in 1996. I liked the direction the band was heading with on this album and it's a shame they broke up!
The only full length album released by English indie pop group Saturn V, featuring Gregory Webster of Razorcuts. Released in 1993 on Vinyl Japan, an English/Japanese record label. I know on this blog I have uploaded way more singles and EPs than complete albums, but this is an LP I dig and listen to quite often.
The first release by English doom metal / heavy metal group Witchfinder General, from 1981 on Heavy Metal Records. Named after the 1968 folk-horror Vincent Price film called "Witchfinder General" (but with a USA release title of "The Conqueror Worm") I think the band chose correctly with paying homage to the original title.
Another release from Spanish indie label Elefant Records, this time with the French indie pop group Spring, with a 7" single in which they sing in Spanish, rather than their usual French or English.
The first EP released by Japanese shoegaze group Supercar. Released in 1997, containing probably their best song 'cream soda'! I think this version on the EP is a slightly different recording than what appears on the CD, I could be wrong though..
Another single release from Galaxie 500, this time featuring a live cover version of The Beatles' "Rain" recorded live at CBGB's, New York City, May 13, 1989. Released by the esoteric indie label Caff Corporation in 1990.
