VA - Backyard Party in Popability! 7"
(Sarahry Records [001], 2012) [JP]

A neat little lo-fi Japanese indie-pop compilation from 2012 dedicated to Sarah Records. Five Japanese indie-pop groups covering Sarah Records bands. I have the downloaded version from bandcamp, but I have seen this exist as a 7" ... likely, for people who attended the actual event in Osaka. Here is a short 12 minute video of the event on YouTube.

Tracklisting:

01 - Wallflower - Does Love Last Forever? [Brighter]
02 - The Moments - Summershine [The Sea Urchins]
03 - It Happens - Tomorrow Ends Today [Primal Scream/The Springfields]

VA - MOONRAKER / DON MARTIN 3 / HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL - SUMMERY NINETY SIX - SPLIT 7" (KURT & JASON [KCW+H002!], 1995) [USA]

VA - Moonraker / Don Martin 3 / Hope Springs Eternal
Summer Ninety Six - split 7"
(Kurt & Jason – [KCW+H002!], 1995) [USA]

Another lo-fi three-way split emo 7", this time from 1995 featuring
Moonraker, Don Martin 3, and Hope Springs Eternal. Released on Kurt & Jason. I'm assuming all Florida bands and a Florida record label. One of my favorites!

Tracklisting:

01 - Moonraker - White Christmas
02 - Hope Springs Eternal - Drone
03 - Don Martin 3 - Transistor.

VA - MINERAL / JIMMY EAT WORLD / SENSE FIELD - SPLIT 7" (CRANK! [CRC013], 1997) [USA]

VA - Mineral / Jimmy Eat World / Sense Field - Split 7"
(Crank! – [crc013], 1997) [USA]

A little lo-fi 3-way split emo 7" from Mineral, Jimmy Eat World, and Sense Field released on Crank! from 1997. I remember being dragged to the mall in the early 00s, finding my way begrudgingly into a Hot Topic and being surprised they had some vinyl for sale. I think I ended up buying this 7" and an Alkaline Trio record for super cheap. It's my favorite recorded song by Jimmy Eat World that sounds more raw than the super polished album version. I also think the Mineral cover of Willie Nelson is a little grating.. but it kind of works in its' own way.

Tracklisting:

01 - Mineral - Crazy
02 - Jimmy Eat World - Secret Crush
03 - Sense Field - Every Reason

Moonshake - First CDEP
(Creation Records – [CRESCD 101], 1991) [ENG]

The first single release by London, England group Moonshake aptly named 'First'. The first track is so inducing - I love it.

POISON IDEA - PICK YOUR KING E.P. 7" (FATAL ERECTION RECORDS [TR-001], 1983) [USA]

Poison Idea - Pick Your King E.P. 7"
(Fatal Erection Records – [TR-001], 1983)

The first release by Poison Idea is this blazing 7" from 1983. (It wasn't my intention today, but I noticed all my post were from 1983 releases..) Early, raw, angry hardcore release from Portland, Oregon.

RAMMELLZEE & K-ROB - BEAT BOP 12" (TARTOWN RECORD CO. [TT001], 1983) [USA]

Rammellzee & K-Rob - Beat Bop 12"
(Tartown Record Co. – [TT001], 1983) [USA]

A 12" single with a vocal track and instrumental track of Rammellzee & K-Rob's "Beat Bop" from 1983. What many have called 'the first battle rap' record. This is an interesting artifact, it was produced and arranged by Jean-Michel Basquiat. Basquiat made the beat that they rap over (as well as, obviously, the artwork for the cover).

LIQUID LIQUID - OPTIMO 12" (99 RECORDS [99-11 EP], 1983) [USA]
