MEDICINE - NEVER CLICK 12" (BEGGARS BANQUET PRIMARY [ARB 3T], 1993) [USA]

Medicine - Never Click 12"
(Beggars Banquet Primary – [ARB 3T], 1993) [USA]

The third 12" single release from LA's
Medicine, in support of their second LP.  Released on Beggars Banquet Primary in 1993.

MEDICINE - ARUCA 12" (CREATION RECORDS [CRE 135T], 1992) [USA]

Medicine - Aruca 12"
(Creation Records – [CRE 135T], 1992) [USA]

The first single release of Los Angeles noise-rock / shoegaze band Medicine, released on Creation Records, in support of their first album. I feel like this early material is pretty close to an American MBV. The band also played themselves in the film The Crow.

CHAIN LETTER - PRELUDE TO CHERRY LETTER EP 7" (ROVER RECORDS [ROV 012], 1999) [JP]

Chain Letter - Prelude to Cherry Letter EP 7"
(Rover Records – [ROV 012], 1999) [JP]

A 7" from Japanese indie pop group Chain Letter released on Rover Records in 1999.

LA CASA DE EMMA - DESVENTURA DE VERANO TAPE (JUNKO RECORDS [JNK-013], 2019) [CHILE]

La casa de Emma - Desventura de verano TAPE
(Junko Records – [JNK-013], 2019) [CHILE]

Honestly, the only Chilean indie pop band that I know of (an I am sure there are more! I'd like to hear them as well). But, I had to check out this band with the name '
La casa de Emma' [Spanish: Emma's House], and the obvious reference to twee-greats The Field Mice. This tape did not disappoint! I love the track Cajita Musical.

BEST COAST - THE SUN WAS HIGH (SO WAS I) 7" (ART FAG RECORDINGS [AF007], 2009) [USA]

Best Coast - The Sun Was High (So Was I) 7"
(Art Fag Recordings – [AF007], 2009) [USA]

I've loved this 7" single release from
Best Coast ever since I saw the music video on YouTube probably in 2009 when it came out. The video features footage of the French film "Un homme et une femme" [A Man and a Woman]
starring Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant. I had just seen the film and felt the music fit well with the sentimental dreaminess of the film.

MARY-GO-ROUND - PLAYS GOLDEN HITS 7" (A WEST SIDE FABRICATION [WE 016], 1990) [SWE]

Mary-Go-Round - Plays Golden Hits
(A West Side Fabrication – [We 016], 1990) [SWE]

A 7" single release from Swedish indie pop group Mary-Go-Round. Swedish indie pop is so good! So many stellar bands -- this is one of the lesser known ones, but does not make it any lesser, this 7" infact slays. I only wish they sung more in the original Swedish language -- but they all have such an impressive grasp of English it makes sense for broad appeal. These songs sound as if they could have been huge radio hits, to me.

THE PRAMS - SICK • SAD WORLD EP 7" (DISCOS DE KIRLIAN [DK24], 2015) [USA]

The Prams - Sick • Sad World EP 7"
(Discos de Kirlian – [DK24], 2015) [USA]

Another group I don't know very much about. This 7" release from American indie pop group
The Prams came out on Spanish label Discos de Kirlian in a limited edition of 100 in 2015. Super fast, kinetic, off the wheels and upbeat indie pop.

SPLITTING THE ATOM - SPLITTING THE ATOM (PARTS ONE AND TWO) 7" (DUOPHONIC SUPER 45S [DS45-17], 1997) [UK]

Splitting The Atom - Splitting The Atom (Parts 1 and 2) 7"
(Duophonic Super 45s – DS45-17], 1997) [UK]

A 7" single release, and the only release, from '
Splitting The Atom'. From as far as I can tell it's kind of a combination of members of Sonic Boom and Stereolab, released on Stereolab's label Duophonic Super 45s in 1997.

18 WHEELER - SUNCRUSH 12" (AUGUST RECORDS [CAUG 10T], 1993) [UK]

18 Wheeler - Suncrush 12"
(August Records – [CAUG 10T], 1993) [UK]

The first 12" single from Scottish indie rock group 18 Wheeler. Final track on the B-Side is a Daniel Johnston cover.
